What information is collected?

Guillemot collects information about its Users in three ways: directly from the User, from our Web server logs, and with cookies.
User-supplied information: We do not collect any personal information from you without your consent.  Guillemot collects information in the following cases: (1) registration as a member; (2) registration for participation in a contest; (3) personal space ("my space"); (4) information letter (newsletter); (5) our online forum; (6) registration of a candidate for sponsorship; (7) blog.  With respect to the information that we collect, we may ask you for personal information such as your name, date of birth, email address, nationality, country of residence, and your language.  Moreover, we may collect information regarding elements such as your greeting text, musical tastes, links (to your blog, for example), your influences, your musical project, your DJ hardware, your "live dates" and the DJ software application(s) used with this hardware.
Guillemot also stores messages, comments and emails you have sent (including personally identifiable information).
Cookies: thanks to the information contained in cookies, Guillemot is able to better track its Users and offer them personalized contents or functionalities.

Cookies are simply pieces of information that are sent to your browser from a Web server and stored on your computer's hard drive.  Cookies do not include any information allowing you to be identified (name, email address or otherwise); they are typically used to quickly identify a User's computer and to "remember" certain things about the User's visit. Should certain items of personal information not be made available to us, access to certain zones and functionalities of the Website will be affected: participation in the forum, registration of your participation in a contest, a request for sponsorship candidacy.  However, personal information is not required in order to access the Website and consult the majority of its contents.

 

How will my personal information be used?

We use your information with respect to three categories:

Information provided by the User: Guillemot may use your personal information to create and manage a community of people interested in DJ products, implement a platform for communication, information and mutual aid between members of the community, particularly with regard to management of the forum (in particular, restricting participation in the forum and the blog to community members only), for commercial canvassing, to respond to a candidacy for sponsorship, to set up contests, to respond to emails you send us, to establish anonymous statistics and profiles on persons interested in DJ products and study their needs, and for the purposes of external communications.  Moreover, this information may be used to personalize the Website and verify the identity of the User.  With your prior consent, Guillemot may also send you the Hercules newsletter.

We also use your personal information for our internal marketing, technical or demographic studies, in order to better meet your needs.
Cookies: thanks to cookies, Guillemot aims to offer a more efficient, more secure and higher quality Website, as well as more personalized contents on the Website.  To do so, the cookies we use may record non-personally identifiable information pertaining to your preferences for viewing particular web pages.  We may also use cookies to help us in analyzing trends, tracking Users' movements, and gathering a broad spectrum of demographic information.

How can I exercise my rights relating to my personal information?

Users registered as members in the community may access their personal information in their personal space.  In your personal space, you may also modify certain items of your personal information.  Finally, you can delete your Account.  In that case, your personal information will no longer be used (although it will be retained exclusively so that Guillemot can communicate it to the relevant authorities, if required).  If you wish to register and submit personal information to Guillemot at this time, we can send you an email to verify your email address and that you are activating your Account.  The message will be sent to the address you have provided to us and will allow you to unsubscribe.  If, for whatever reason, you wish to consult, rectify, modify or contest the handling of your personal information, you can send your request to the "Webmaster service" (accessible by clicking the "Contact us" link found at the bottom of each page of the Website).  If you do not wish for Guillemot to send you the Hercules newsletter, do not select the "I accept to receive the Hercules newsletter" option, or send us an email to this effect.  Moreover, each communication sent to you by Guillemot offers you the possibility of not receiving any further communications.

 

In their personal space, Members may modify the settings relating to the protection of their privacy.

Each adult Member has a public profile (in other words, a profile which relates to the information accessible to any User), in which he or she may select which information he or she wishes to make public.

Each adult Member also has a private profile (in other words, a profile which relates to the information accessible only to the Member(s) he or she has chosen as friends), in which he or she may select which information he or she wishes to make accessible to his or her friends.

 

In order to protect their privacy, Members who are minors have a limited choice: some settings relating to the protection of their privacy are set by default and may not be modified.

 

Does Guillemot collect personal information from Users under 18 years of age?

The Website is intended for DJs (disc jockeys) and persons interested in mixing; we therefore have no deliberate intention of collecting personal information from Users under 18 years of age, although it is possible that such Users will access the Website.

Minors under 13 years of age should not enter personal information allowing for them to be identified.  We do not collect this type of information from Users under 13 years of age.

For users aged 13 or more, we submit a questionnaire limited to the necessary information.  Nevertheless, in certain cases it is necessary to collect from Users between 13 and 18 years of age (referred to hereinafter as "Teenagers") information allowing for them to be identified in order to respond to their request for information or technical support by allowing them to participate in the forum, and in order to allow them to participate in contests.

Parental consent: Guillemot is committed to the protection of children's privacy.  Guillemot encourages parents to use the Website with their children, to monitor their use of Website and to help us protect their privacy by instructing them never to provide personal information (real names, addresses, phone numbers...) without your permission.  Guillemot believes that guidance from parents represents the best solution to preventing Teenagers from providing personal information which is too precise within the context of using the Website and the forum.  Users under 18 should not submit any information to the Website without a parent or legal guardian's consent.
