No Sound From Output

 I just got the Hercules DJ Console RMX and am having trouble getting any audio from my speakers. The console controls Virtual DJ without a problem and I have speakers connected with an RCA cable through output 1-2, but there's no sound when i push play. Anybody know if I'm missing a step here?
