Hi

After 5 years break from Dj'ing i have decided to buy the Hercules MP3 e2 for house parties etc and am impressed so far. However i am not very good with speaker set ups etc and i can only get the sound to play from my imac. I have the following:

Hercules controller
Virtual Dj installed on my imac
Roland DS-30A speakers (quite old but still have digital output etc so should work?)
Headphones
Numark stereo io usb sound card (has only one output so i gather headphone monitoring could be a problem)
Startech Virtual 7.1 USB stereo external sound card

I have set the audio on the mac to the Numark (inout and output) and have followed the set up in the speaker manual (I think!). Not sure if i have right wires etc.

If anyone can help that would be great (please explain in simple format!!)

Cheers

Bussy

I'm guessing you are refering to the Numark DJ I/O soundcard ?

If this is the case, then this is just what you need to get both your speakers and headphone working.

- Connect your speakers to Output 1/2 on the back

- Connect your headphone to the front connector

Then in Virtual DJ audio menu, configure as follow:

 - Input : None

- Output(s): Headphone  > Master Chan1/2 / headphone Chan3/4

-Soundcard: DJ I/O ( or however it is recognized)

It's that simple.

Thanks for this and yes i am using the numark DJ I/0 soundcard. I cannot still get it work however, i think i may have the wrong leads. I was advised to get 2 1/4" RCA cables which i have but then one end does fit into the speakers. The manual for the speakers say i need a lead going from Coaxial in one to digital output to the other then the other way around does this make sense? i have set my mac to change the sounds in audio midi setup to say input and output through the soundcard, which it says in the manual.

Sorry for being dumb - i miss vinyl!!

The output of the DJ I/O is an analog and you are trying to connect it to a Digital input, which will obviously not work.

You will  a cable like this:

http://www.stagebeat.co.uk/P/8239/Stage+Line+Audio+Cable+2+x+Phono+%28 RCA%29+Male+-+2+x+6.3mm+%2814%22%29+Mono+Male+MCA-304+3m+064980

The setup will be similar to the Analog connection example in the speaker's manual.
