Hi all, Just got a Herclues RMX on Satuday & loving it. I know the software what comes with the console is a basic version of Vdj (just to get you started) but as I've been dj'ing for around 14 years & digital dj'ing for about 4 of them, would it be better to upgrade to VDJ pro or Tracktor dj pro ?
what I don't like about the basic version of Vdj CE is the layout of the screens (look's like something from windows 98 & wouldn't like to look at it for 4 or 6 hours a night)
As I do mobile dj work, I use loads of samples, Jingles, effects that sort of stuff in the shows that I do. can you use the 6 effect buttons on the fly? i.e say for example that i've got sample's stored on the hard drive called samples, is it a case of just applying them to one of the 6 effect buttons in what software that I'm using & then when I've finished with it & want to change it, just apply another to the same effect button?
If I do upgrade to the full pro version of VDJ or go To Tracktor dj , Is it a case of just intstalling the drivers for the console on the laptop or do you need to install VDJ CE aswell? using it on a desktop at the moment before I install it on the new work laptop
last question, If if VDJ ce is install will the other software pick up the tsk (layout file for the midi) or will I need to apply it to VDJ pro or tracktor dj

Hello DjToonz,
1) The version of VirtualDJ included with DJ Console Rmx is called VirtualDJ 5 DJC, it is not VirtualDJ CE.
You should register on VirtualDJ.com website, enter your VirtualDJ 5 DJC serial number in your user profile, and go in the download area to download VirtualD 5.2.2 DJC http://www.virtualdj.com/download/updates.html, VirtualDJ 5.2.2 DJC is the same software as the version 5.1 or 5.2 which is on the CD of your DJ Console Rmx, but with a nicer display due to more resolutions of a similar skin (1024x600, 1024x768, 1280x800).
2) If you are a fan of samples, jingles and effects, maybe you should look at Ableton Live.
You can try it for free on http://www.ableton.com/downloads .
3) If you want to assign samples on buttons, VirtualDJ Pro directly assign 10 or 12 samples on the computer buttons F1 to F12.
You can test VirtualDJ 5 Pro since VirtualDJ 5 DJC gives you the right to test it for 20 days (in the More buton), but I really suggest you fully test VirtualDJ 5 DJC prior to testing VirtualDJ Pro, otherwise you will lose some of the precious 20 days of test in the initiation of VirtualDJ.
4) We cannot forecast whether you will prefer Traktor Pro or VirtualDJ Pro, both are good software, the best is that you try both.

5) You don't need to install VirtualDJ 5 DJC to use the Rmx with VirtualDJ Pro or with Traktor.
- You can install VirtualDJ Pro and use directly DJ Console Rmx in VirtualDJ since the Rmx map is coded inside VirtualDJ.
- You can install Traktor Pro and use the Rmx with Traktor Pro in loading the Rmx tsi or tks file you can download from Hercules tech support website http://ts.hercules.com/eng/index.php?pg=view_files&gid=2&fid=2

Cheers for the advice, I'll have a play around with it more before friday as I'm working that night & see what software I pefer
