I'm thinking about painting my RMX with a shinny purple or something.
To do that I quess I have to remove all the faders and etc.

-Will that be dangerous and will I be able to put them back on without having them go off by themselves?
-What about the job weels?
-What kind of paint should I use to paint alluminium?
-Any other possible problems?

Is that a lot? Tongue out

hey man, i say do it and post some piccies when your done. im sure your not the 1st to customise such a piece of kit. with regards to the painting of your casing deffo remove knobs as they will wear anyway. if you can just remove the outer steel casing and either get it powder coated or airbrushed, its got a key already because of its finish so paint should hold well and some good hard laquer to finish. i wouldnt worry too much bout the jog wheels they are simply the wrong material, go for a specialised airbrush metal sprayer.

have fun...fitz

I'll try it when I buy some paint. I'm worried about removing the jog weels.
How to do that?

removing the jog weels is not your biggest problem :P
I opened the rmx since i had a firmware issue (opening the console did not helped to solve the firmware, a procedure called tusb did)
the cross fader was my problem since while you open the rmx, the aluminium case will not get off so easy :P
and i also have some parts that i coul not put back, but it can be done.
there is a screw on the bottom of the rmx for each jog wheel :)

Hello nickdj1331,

I am not sure removing the jog wheels is safe:
1) the screws at the bottom of the Rmx for each jog wheel don't hold the jog wheels, they set the resistance of the jog wheels so removing them won't remove the jog wheel, so it is not so easy to remove the jog wheels,
2) if you succeed in removing the jog wheels, painting the aluminium case and reassembling the jog wheels, you must also keep the painting layer thin enough so that once the jog wheels are re-assembled, they turn freely without touching and scratching the painting,
3) You must also make sure you perfectly position the jog wheels once you re-install them since, as they work with optical sensors, if the jog wheels you re-assemble have their teeth not perfectly in line with the optical sensors of the circuit board, you jog wheels may not work any longer.

=> Instead of removing the jog wheels, which may be difficult and dangerous, I suggest you proctect the jog wheels area before painting (with a protective tape, or by attaching a bowl or a jar lid on each jog wheel): you won't paint the circle below the tapes/bowls/lids covering the jog wheels, and you will not have the bad surprise of losing the jog wheel function.

=> You must then make sure no painting goes in the central hole for the jog wheels, since if any paint touched the teeth of a jog wheel, the obturation of these teeth by the paint would prevent the optical sensors from counting these teeth, and you would create a dead zone on your jog wheel.
